Let’s take a break from conventional modes of heating and be a little creative here. If you’re in a place where there’s no hope for heating, knowing alternative methods of keeping warm could save your life. Here’s some fun ways to keep warm, but they may be a little wounding to your pride.
Do a Dance

Personally, if I had moves like Thom Yorke, I’d never walk. And there’s no doubt in my mind that if I did dance everywhere, I’d never get cold. Moving the body by ways of dancing gets blood flowing quicker than just by standing still or walking, in turn warming us up. And don’t worry about looking silly; if other people are around, chances are they’re just as cold as you are, and once you start dancing, they’ll feel mighty foolish for not having the idea first.
Hug Somebody

Coats were made to help humans retain their own body heat in extreme cold temperatures, but back in the day before feather stuffed clothing, people just had to hug it out. Hugging a stranger may seem a little intrusive, so first go for the people you know. If you’re out with friends and catch a chill, hugging them will help keep in not just your body heat, but their’s too! It’s a win-win situation, and everyone loves a good hug.
Build a Fire

In prehistoric times when man walked with dinosaurs and ate woolly mammoth, the discovery of fire was the beginning of civilization. It enabled these primitive beings to keep warm in the winter, cook their food, and dazzle their family and friends at dinner parties. Since then, fire has been the center of civilized culture, so we should do well not to forget all that it has done for us. When in a cold situation with your only surroundings being fresh dried kindling and a stone lined pit, a fire is a great way to keep warm, and look macho in front of the ladies.
Cook Dinner

Here’s a more low key suggestion on keeping warm, and usually only works if you’re at home. Trying to save money by keeping the heater on at a minimum? Great, then this method is for you, and the best part is you don’t even need to know how to cook! Just rev up that oven, pop in some chicken, chex mix, microwave mac’ n’ cheese, breakfast cereal, and basically anything else that will fit. Then pull up a lawn chair in front of the oven and let the warming commence.
Build an Igloo
People don’t live in igloos anymore, but at one time they were perfect for the nomadic tribes in modern day Canada. If constructed properly, igloos can actually keep warmth inside due to the natural insulation of the ice and snow walls. And they’re not even that hard to make, all you need is a friend, an ice pick, and a whole heap of snow. The hard part is the feat of engineering and keeping it from collapsing, but that’s a minor detail.
